Dan McCarthy founded The Quincy Group, Inc. in 2002 after beginning his career with American Express Financial Advisors then serving as Regional Director for Financial Services to the fast-growing Gilman & Ciocia, a New York-based company providing tax preparation and financial planning services from more than 30 offices.

A strong desire to help people and develop a relationship with each client continues to serve as the foundation for The Quincy Group, Inc. As President and Wealth Advisor, Dan works to educate and simplify complex financial information into understandable, individualized long-term plans to ‘help you live a richer life’.

Built one client at a time, The Quincy Group takes great pride in our RicherLife planning process, our Advocate Program and our team of conscientious hard-working people who are committed to the successes of each of our clients.

Raised in a humble middle-class New Bedford, MA neighborhood Dan is the oldest of six children and is heavily involved in the community he serves. He is a member of the Quincy Chamber of Commerce, Quincy Elks and is a former member of the St. John the Baptist Finance Committee as well as the Quincy Kiwanis Club. A former athlete himself and longtime coach and sponsor of local youth sports, he enjoys taking responsibility for others and their success; which translates directly to his client relationships. Having lost a brother to cancer in 2002, and having a son in long-term addiction recovery, Dan understands the struggles we all face and keeps that awareness at the forefront of what motivates him to help everyone around him be successful.

The one thing that is always guaranteed to bring a smile to Dan’s face is the sound of his children’s laughter. And that is a lot of joy because he and his wife Ami have five young adult kids. Not to mention their two Bernese Mountain Dogs and a Newfoundland “puppy”! While he was raised on the ocean in New England, as a self proclaimed “mosquito delicacy” and not a huge fan of the sand, Dan now prefers to relax by his pool with a good spy novel.

After graduating from Suffolk University with a degree in Business Finance, Jim Almquist joined The Quincy Group in September of 2016. Raised in Quincy, the son of successful small business owners, Jim spent much of his time working in his parent’s local business, Almquist Flowerland. It was there he learned the value of client service and the importance of building customer relations through integrity and hard work. Because of those values, Jim is perfectly suited in his role as an Advisor where he works with clients on Retirement Plans ensuring accounts are accurate and updated regularly.

When he’s not at the office, you can most likely bet he’s outdoors hiking with his dog Mac, snowboarding, or boating as that is when he feels the happiest. You may not find him swimming in the ocean though because he’s terrified of sharks! And because Jim is such a lover of the outdoors, we can tell you that his biggest pet peeve is littering.

Born & raised in Salem, MA, Daniel Marnik is a lifelong New Englander who ultimately settled on the South Shore.

After obtaining his MBA from F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College, Dan began a career in Financial Services twenty-six years ago. As an Advisor with over 21 years of experience, he joins The Quincy Group team with great enthusiasm for this next chapter.

Happily married and soon to celebrate their Silver Jubilee, he & his wife have two college age kids. Dan enjoys his time with his family and gets outside as often as possible for long walks with their dog, Gus.

Coleen Hayback spent nearly a decade as the VP of Marketing for a Financial Advisory firm in the DC area while also holding her Series 6 and Life & Health Licenses. During that time, she worked closely with The Quincy Group with a focus on our expansion into the telecom sector. Having started her own boutique marketing firm in 2015, Coleen now works full time as our V.P. of Marketing and Operations.

Coleen grew up in Southern RI and now she and her husband divide their time between the Washington DC area and New England. In her personal time, you will find her enjoying time with her teenage son, behind the lens of her camera, combing the beach to add to their extensive sea glass collection, cooking, or traveling with her family & friends.

Office Operations Manager

Rob Zaruba joined The Quincy Group as Operations Manager in 2010 after more than 20 years of management in the steel and electrical supply industries. While his daily focus is to ensure efficiency behind the scenes, Rob performs numerous duties throughout each day to make that happen. Of those, speaking with our clients is always his favorite and you can count on him to brighten your day.

Rob lives in Taunton with his wife Lori and has a daughter who lives and works in Nashville, so he enjoys his share of Southern cuisine like BBQ & fried pickles on their trips to visit. Outside of the office Rob enjoys saltwater fishing and following all the Boston sports teams. In fact, as a kid, he used to mow the lawn of the first owner of the Patriots. Rob’s grandfather was the very first New England Patriot’s season ticket holder (cool, right?!) and the family still enjoys using those tickets to attend games.

Trisha was born & raised in Massachusetts and has called Plymouth home since 2013.

Trisha became a client of TQG before working with us. She started her career at Verizon as a 411 operator, worked in several departments and locations as a zero operator, administrative assistant, outside technician (install & repair of copper and fiber network), and finally a Central Office tech when she retired after 28 years.

She has three daughters, a boxer named Tyson and when she isn’t busy enjoying their company, Trisha loves to read and travel, cruising being her favorite. Her hope is to eventually visit all the U.S. states and she is well on her way!
